19th Century Fashion Vampires: 1800s

Vampires, lesbians, and the 19th century 🩷🩷. I just had the urge to draw a pair of vampire lesbians with clothes from the 1800s. I’ve been researching a lot of information about 19th-century clothing, and I want to draw a variety of fashions from different eras. Next one? I will probably use the 1860s because I love that decade in fashion.

ALSO, disclaimer. Please note that nothing in this illustration is 100%  historically accurate. As much as I tried to represent the dresses as close to history as possible, take into account that they are half-dressed here, not wearing shoes, and not wearing any hair accessories, nor do they have their hair done up as in the decade. The background is inspired by the neoclassical style that was in fashion at the time, but it’s mostly made up, so don’t take it as accurate as well.

And as a bonus, this look is very much the one shown in Regency Era Shows like Bridgerton, but it can’t be considered Regency style yet, since the Regency era was from 1811 to 1820. This style of dress came into fashion at the start of the 19th century (though I think it can be dated back from the end of the 18th century) in France, and that’s why this high waisted dress is called an empire silhouette or empire line dress, since it came into fashion during the French First Empire, and it was Napoleon’s Empress, Joséphine de Beauharnais, who popularised it into fashion. Of course, as we go into the 1810s, this style in England can be called the Regency style.

I’m no expert, and I probably said some things wrong because there’s a lot of misinformation online, but thank you if you read this far! I will continue to study this subject and try to learn as much as possible.
